3 Reasons Free Review Sites Will Help You Rank Well

posted by: - 08.11.2010

Internet yellow pages are one of the most popular ways customers find local businesses.

Free listings on Internet yellow pages (YellowPages.comSuperPages.com, Yelp.com, etc.) and local business review sites are valuable for your company. In fact, it’s possible to triple your exposure in the search engines even if you’re ranking first in Google. The free listings help your business rank on the Google Maps / Local Results pages and the yellow pages and review sites advertising your business often rank well in the search engines, giving you additional opportunities to connect with potential customers.

1. After the search engines, Internet yellow pages are one of the most popular ways for customers to find local businesses.

Although the search engines have a much bigger market share, research has shown that people looking on Internet yellow pages are frequently ready to buy and not simply looking for information. They’re valuable for that reason alone.

2. Having a strong presence on Internet yellow pages can help you rank better in the Google local results.

On the screenshot of the Google results for Minneapolis Pizza above, you’ll see that above the regular listings is a small map with local results.

Google has a different algorithm for these results. The biggest factor is having your company name, address and phone number match exactly on your Internet yellow pages profiles. And by exact I mean exact – ‘street’ is different than ‘st’, is different than ‘st.’. The more these match up exactly, the more Google is confident that it has the correct info – and the more confident it is in showing your business to as many searchers as possible.

By claiming profiles for your business and ensuring the information listed matches exactly, you can improve your ranking in these Google local business results.

3- Internet yellow pages and review sites often rank well in the search engines.

This gives you a third opportunity to connect with customers – if they skip over your maps listing and your organic listing, you can still get the lead by having a strong presence on these review sites. Customers who visit these high ranking sites may still connect with your businesses there, especially if you have a complete and accurate profile that puts your best foot forward.

Even if you have the top position on Google, increasing your presence on Internet yellow pages can triple your exposure in local searches by adding a local listings result and by giving you a shot at customers who choose to visit these high-visibility sites.

Kunjal, The best place to look is to do searches for your products / services in your geographic area – for example ‘minneapolis pizza’ in the example above. See what yellow pages, review sites and industry directories are actually ranking for your specific areas of business. Those are the places you’ll want to have a presence so you get that second chance at customers that may have skipped over your website in the search results. That said, we always claim Google Local, Yahoo Local, and Bing Local. After that it typically makes sense to claim or create new profiles at: YellowPages.com, SuperPages.com, InsiderPages.com, CitySearch.com, and Yelp.com.

Hot Frog is another one to add to that list.

They give a clean link, so it’s kind of like a 2 for 1.

It seems most of the shared sites are not accepting individual review any longer. I am looking for one where I can pot my site review and seen none. Pls can U suggest another ones apart from the one above.
