What do I need to do if I am switching from another ISP?
Just give us a call at 612-676-1946 and we will set you up a dialup account. Don't forget to cancel your dialup account with your other ISP.
In what areas does Internet Exposure offer dialup service?
You can use our dialup service from anywhere. However, if you are not in the Minneapolis/St.Paul metro area, you will incur long distance telephone charges. If you are not sure, just pick up your phone and dial 612-344-5525. If you hear squealing then you are in our local area. If the operator tells you to dial a 1 before that number, then you are calling long distance.
What speeds do you offer dialup service at?
We support up to 56K/V.90 modems.
What software do I need to use your dialup service?
You do not need any special software to use Internet Exposure dialup service. Everything you need comes with your operating system.
What is my local dialup number?
Set your modem to dial 612-344-5525.
What does Unlimited No. of Hours per Month mean?
Unlimited means that we do not monitor how much time you are connected. However, understand that if your computer is idle for a long time, your modem will disconnect automatically. You are free to reconnect as needed.
How long does it take to setup an account?
Dialup accounts are setup the day you call (M-F from 8:00-5:00).
Can I select my own username and password?
We will generally allow you to do this, provided the username is available and your password meets our requirements.
Can I access my account while travelling?
Yes you can, but if you use your dialup account from outside our local area, you will incur long distance telephone charges.
Is there a fee to setup my dialup service?
No, we do not charge a setup fee.
I can't find my dialup login name or password, what do I do now?
Call us, we will be happy to assist you.
Can more than one computer share my dialup access?
No. You are only allowed one computer per login name at a time. If you want access for more computers, call us.
Why can't I connect?
- Verify you are dialing the correct phone number (612-344-5525)
- Verify you are typing in the correct login name and password. Remember they are both case sensitive, which means that myLogInNamE is different from MYLOGINname.
- Verify you have a dial tone by checking your telephone.
- Verify your phone line is securely connected into your modem. It should be the port that says "Line".
- Verify your modem is configured correctly, refer to the owners manual.

An error message says the modem can't be found, now what do I do?
- If you are running windows, reboot your computer before trying other remedies.
- Check to see if your modem is securly installed into its slot in your motherboard.
- If you have an external modem, make sure it is turned on and the power is connected.
- Your modem might be conflicting with another piece of hardware, check your users manual for more information.
- Reinstall the modem software.
- Call your computer manufacturer for assistance.
Why is my dialup connection only about 27kpbs when I have a 56K modem?
With the laws governing dialup internet access, the maximum speed you can connect at is just less than 56kpbs. Most people usually get around 40kbps if they have a good connection. If you connection is significantly slower there are several things to check, usually related to line quality.
- The telephone wiring in your house or in your neighborhood is old, preventing a clear connection.
- Your telephone line is split several times in your house. This causes a lot of noise in your phone line and will slow your dialup connection.
- The connections for you phone line are loose or corroded, weakening your connection.
