Formed in 1927, International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49 now comprise of over 13,000 members from North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. Local 49'ers hold contracts with highway/heavy and building contractors, well drillers, equipment repair shops, welding shops, sand and gravel suppliers, counties, municipalities, hospitals, school districts, cemeteries and more.

ruby on rails

With Ruby on Rails' rapid development environment we were able to enhance Local 49's features list. We took a simple news article admin and gave Local 49 staff the ability to create dynamic Flash headers. Promotional content elements went from simple images and a link to media rich content elements. They can now add video, Audio, and create a Light Box slide show.

keeping it simple

As a member funded organization, Local 49 had high expectations for a cost effective site redesign and content management system. We were able to deliver an excellent front end site by keeping development costs to a minimum.
