Motion Control Group (MCG) is a Minnesota based manufacturer of brushless motors and motion control components. The company has been in existence since 1961, and now has a manufacturing plant in China, serving the global community. MCG approached us for a site redesign in 2007. Their criteria was quite simple: Create an appealing website that organizes our vast product offering and serves it to our website users in an elegant way.

a complicated puzzle

Team iE loves a challenge and MCG gave us one. MCG has over 1000 possible SKUs consisting of motors, drives, options, and accessories; a simple price list would not suffice. Our approach to overcoming this challenge was to create a product selector tool and customizable PDF generator. The Price list Tool helps potential customers find their desired motor by entering in up to eight different specifications. The results guide the end user to the product details page. From there the customizable PDF Generator allows the end user to gather all desired motor & motor component options to create a clean, easy to read PDF document.

The Motion Control Group website was built on an advanced frame work of PHP. We like to call it PHP with a twist. This twist lets us extend the easy-to-use PHP programming language into a robust framework capable of handling the large and complex MCG database. This is an excellent example of how our 13 years of experience benefit a customer. We are able to fuse together best practices from differing technologies, and create a truly customizable solution.
